Pharmacy Technician: Another Nursing Career

Nursing is a combination of art and science. In fact, the American Nurses Association (ANA) is defined as “nursing is the protection, promotion and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, relieve suffering through the diagnosis and treatment response human, and the promotion of caring for people, families, communities and populations. ”

Today, there are over 2 million dollars in the labor force that works as a nurse. Generally, most people think that nurses are just the physician’s assistant, and working closely with doctors to carry out their orders, review the patient’s vital signs and keep them alive, while the doctor is not. That notion is true, however, nurses have other work alternatives, other than that. For example, nurses can be pharmacy technicians, or sold in the sales of pharmaceuticals. The person does not have to take exams for pharmacy technician or the study of different pharmaceutical products. Above all, their job is to fill the prescription or receive requests for prescriptions given by doctors, hospital, nurse, or even patients.

Nursing Career

There are many tasks involved and the pharmacy technician must pay attention and concentrate on the task, because a mistake can cause the patient’s life. Besides receiving the prescription, he or she must also measure and count on the necessary drugs. In some cases where the drug should be prepared, the technician must mix the drugs and select the container that is suitable for drugs. Labeling should be done to avoid confusion, especially to patients who are confined in the hospital.

There are other duties and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician should do. These include maintaining and updating the customer profile, the preparation of their insurance forms, taking inventory of drugs, especially prescription medicines, making cash registers and, above all, updating themselves with new drugs market, knowing their side effects and the availability of these drugs.

Beyond that, there are other opportunities nurse can do. May be in the academy and teach aspiring nurse. This is a noble profession, since they are going to hone the skills and capabilities of future nurses. It will expose students to what the job description of nurses are really at the same time help the general clinical exposure.

Another alternative is the profession of information technology to do research and nursing. Although not all nurses to do this for the time and effort to research and study, in the long term, they can help their colleagues to improve their work and help alleviate the suffering of the patient by the methods they found.

Traveling and being a nurse can also go hand in hand. What you’re traveling nurses usually not that help transport patients from one place to another and make sure they are as stable as possible in the duration of the flight. This work is not commonly offered to ordinary nurses. Training for emergency or basic life support training and even stroke is necessary because the majority of patients transferred to emergency situations.
