Nursing Informatics is the integration of clinical nursing information management and IT processes. This is a relatively new approach in health care that combines nursing skills with experience in information technology. Informatics nurse specialists manage and communicate nursing data and information to improve decision-making of consumers, patients, nurses and other health professionals.

The nursing process consists of four major steps: planning, implementation, evaluation and assessment.
